Stoney Grove - Ooh La La!
|
If the idea of wild animals at
a stately home just takes the biscuit, then maybe another idea brewing at Stoney Grove may
be more your cup of tea. |
Currently under consideration is the idea of having
"historic adventures" at the property. The Great House would accept a limited
number of people for short-term stays. But don't think you'll be sipping tea and laying
out on the chaise-lounge for the weekend if you are amongst those selected.
"A house like Stoney Grove took a tremendous amount of
staff to look after it," said a thoughtful Simon Tinsley, present owner of the Great
House. " A lot of the jobs that people did, and the way they did them, have now
disappeared. We thought people could come and, under supervision, work as scullery maids,
under butlers, gardeners, French maids, valets and personal servants. I think it would be
a tremendously rewarding experience."
And for those doing the cleaning, let's hope that the
elephants don't arrive too! |
