"Someone Shockingly Famous"
Selwyn Black
of Selwyn Black Estate Agents today announced the sale of The Grange, Upper
Puckerings premiere historic home. Believed to have been built in the 16th
century, the house has sheltered some of the nations most famous citizens. Bonnie
Prince Charlie himself is rumoured to have taken refuge within its walls before fleeing to
Scotland during the Civil War. Charles Dickens visited The Grange early in his career, and
is said to have been rebuffed by the young mistress of the manor. In this century, Winston
Churchill dined here, and years later, John Lennon, a distant cousin of the penultimate
owner, had tea in the garden.
"I cant reveal the name of the buyer," demurred Black. "But
its someone shockingly famous. I think its grand that a celebrity of this
calibre has chosen Puckering for a home, and that The Grange will be loved again."
With its half-timbered walls and thatched roof, the place exudes olde worlde charm.
Enthused Black, "Id have bought it myself if I could have still collected the
commission!" |
