Puckering Irregulars fall despite Owens
hat-trick

In what may be a
first, Michael Owens scored a hat trick of own goals Saturday as the Puckering Irregulars
continued their difficult season. He deflected a fierce shot early in the opening minutes
past Eric Tiny Andrews who was unable to make the adjustment to the ball's
change in direction and was left rooted to the spot in the manner of a large oak tree.
Just before the half Michael soared above the crowd to head away a corner, only to see it
go into the goal. Michaels misery was complete when he coolly put the ball
past the keeper again, attempting a back pass with three minutes to go. Manager Bert Walsham was positive about the result pointing out that no-one on the Billingford side had been able to score, and noting also the quality of the goals. |
