Fanny Blake was the first lady of Stoney Grove. She
moved to the property when it was first built in 1782, the bride of
William Blake. Her history was revealed through the research of Emma
Churchill and that of Ann Simmons who revealed the full story
through her research on the island of Nevis in the West Indies.
Unfortunately the story revealed, through Fanny's own writings,
was a deeply unhappy one. Despite the presence of her tomb at Stoney
Grove it now seems she ended her life at the birth place in Nevis. |
