Pub Views
A recent BBC survey of one hundred publicans revealed the most common topics of
conversation amoung men downing a pint at the local pub. Surprisingly, sex and cars were
at the bottom of the list, whilst work, clothes and grooming were at the top. Inspired by
these findings, our own ace reporter went on under-cover assignment to the Village Idiot
to discover the burning issues of the Puckering set.
Four hours and five pints later, the list was taking shape. Listed in order of importance
are the "burning issues" of Puckering's men:
Politics (village elections)
Painting hedghogs (pros and cons)
Where to find the best giant aubergines
The Puckering Irregulars season (will Bert Walsham resign?)
The BBC poll also revealed that in London, 50% of women now head for the pub after work.
Let's hope that statistic holds true for Sussex as well!
